The narrated slide show I watched was titled: Evidence of my existence,by Jim JoScalzo.
The clip,which is almost 10 minutes in length,shows JoScalzo ,a photojournalist, traveling to India, Antarctica, Iraq, Iowa and returning home in the end.
The images captured were, to say the least, a bit unsettling. The reality of the leper colony visited in India and the war casualties in Iraq hit me like a train. The sounds captured the moments very well. Throughout the video there was a solid combination of ambient sound with music,and they both captured the moment very well.
The end of the file has JoScalzo returning home to his wife and young child, the images narrated by JoScalzo himself speaking on how he may never be a pivotal man in the photojournalist field, but he can be a pivotal man in his son's life.

I think that there is always the option in this situation to paraphrase.
That way you are able to convey the message that your source was trying to get across,without ruining the overall value of your article with bad grammar and what not.
I don't really agree with changing your sources words.i know if i was interviewed and the reporter changed my words to better suit there article I would be quite unhappy with the resulting article.
So,summarizing and paraphrasing,while citing the source,seems to be the best option.that way your source is heard,and the credibility of your article remains high.
Unless you right a crappy article,then all the paraphrasing in the world won't save you.

Found it!!!!

Well I just read the profile on me that Jeniffer did and I see nothing wrong with it.
Her questions were varied (which is good) and she took real interest in my answers,which made me as the subject feel very comfortable.

reaction to an interview,or the lack thereof.

well I was interviewed by the woman that I interviewed,jennifer,and to date she has not set up a blog;consequently,if there is no blog then there is no interview about yours truly posted.
Honestly I'm not too angry or disappointed by this.
In general I have no problem being interviewed.I genuinely enjoy answering peoples questions,as long as they're intelligent questions it doesn't bother me at all.
When someone asks me:
"Did your tattoos hurt??" That irritates me. Rhetorical questions,such as the aforementioned example,annoy me to no end.
"What do your tattoos mean??" Is worse. The invasion of personal space and informations is more than fine by me,as long as personal boundaries are respected and what not.
So,hopefully Jennifer registers a blog and writes the interview 'cause she asked some really good questions and I was looking forward to reading her written interpretation of the interview.
Whatever,I'm sure there will be more opportunities for such interviews in the coming months of this semester.

Profile of a classmate.

Recently I had the pleasure to interview a fellow classmate by the name of Jennifer Culhane. Jennifer,who was originally pursuing a major in the field of English,is now concentrating on a degree in Journalism. Graduating from ICA (Immaculate Conception Academy),her mother's alma mater and father's preference as oppossed to public schooling,Jennifer found inspiration at the hands of Nany Kaplan-Biegel,the newspaper editor and Journalism porfessor at Skyline Community College,and found herself drawn to Journalsim rather than English as a potential future major. After achieving her degree Jennifer hopes to work in the field or print journalism,focusing mainly on seriously newsworthy magazines (National Geographic as oppossed to simple tabloid print) and to someday travel the world and relay what she learns to others via her writing. Jennifer's ultimate inspiration to write comes from her mother,who encouraged her writing as a child and fostered it as Jennifer grew into the woman that she is today.

I suppose introductions are in order.
Well,my name is Steve.I am 23 years old and I am currently a full time student.
My major is English,but I am interested in journalism as a secondary major or replacement major (depending on various factors and experiences with the courses this semester).
I am mostly interested in writing as an occupation.My personal writing tends to flow ore towards creative writing and poetry,but as long as I am writing then I am happy.
If I were to pursue a future in journalism it would be in an "alternative press" type of atmosphere.I would love to write for a music magazine (rolling stone is a fitting example),my ideal future would be to travel the world and write about what I see and the cultures I experience on the way(so if I found a job that allowed me to do that I would be the happiest writer on the planet).
My general interests are pretty simple I suppose:
-I love music,just about all types (with the obvious exception of country and the like)
-I love to read and write,same as above (substitute country music with happy go lucky poetry and uplifting hallmark cards)
-I LOVE tattoos.I enjoy studying the culture and definition/meaning of Japanese tattoos mainly.
All in all that pretty much sums up all that is me.Any questions,feel free to ask. I don't guarantee I'll answer any overly stupid questions,but I will consider it thoroughly.
